Fittings and Accessories Kit for Laser Cutting Machine
We created a section in the warehouse with bin boxes for each component the customer may need. This does not extend to just the parts in the kit – we also added spots for components that are used on the same machine but are not directly included in the kit itself.
The components that make up this kit can easily fit in a 6x6x6inch box that the customer can pull off the shelf. With this consolidation, they can feel confident that they have every part they need to build their machine. Meanwhile, any other part relating to the machine is in the same area as the kit. If they need one of those other components for repairs, customization, or anything else – they’re in easy reach.
The changes we helped implement impacted at least four of the customer’s departments.
- Engineering no longer has to individually choose or change parts.
- Purchasing now has one part number and one price for a bundle of forty items instead of forty numbers and forty prices.
- Production now has a much easier time collecting the parts because they come as a set.
- Inventory no longer has to keep tabs on forty different items to ensure they are in stock.
Vacuum Braking System
A customer manufactures products for classic car enthusiasts and restorers: replacement parts, custom kit, and performance enhancement components. One product they offer is an aftermarket device that is used as a brake assist for off-road diesel retrofits. They were purchasing and warehousing eighteen different components that were used to build the brake-assist device. They had to purchase parts separately, track inventory on all of them, follow up with multiple vendors, and have the space to keep them stored in their warehouse.
We proposed to assemble the kits for them. We already stock the parts they use and order them on a regular basis, so it made sense for us to assemble the kits for the customer. We created a custom packing list and pack the parts in a custom-labelled box. The package arrives to the customer completely ready to be distributed to their clients. The customer now has more time to concentrate on their core business, while also enjoying some freed-up warehouse space.
